Kosana is one of the many types of mawka found in Ukrainian folklore. The unsettled soul of a girl who committed suicide because of unhappy love remains wandering in the forests by the roads, waiting for a new suitor. Her great grief and desire to take away the pain becomes the reason for the disappearance of many men. The unhappy and vulnerable appearance of a lonely girl in the night woods is confusing and does not make one realize that a dangerous essence lurks behind it. Men are unable to refuse to help her and in the pleasure of combing her black, thick, long to the ground hair, which like a spider's web begins to envelop them. Noticing the torn off ears and the pile of bloodstained crosses strung on her skirt, many travelers begin to panic. The only way out for them is to carefully go through her strands with a beautiful and rich comb, pray and wait for dawn. With the first cries of the rooster, the girl will begin to lose her strength until she weakens completely and retreats. But unlucky travelers must remember that if a single hair falls from her head, or God forbid Cosana sees her treasured comb missing, she will follow them until her collection is replenished with new trophies.
