Samuel grew up in a Lebanese family in Brooklyn and was constantly torn between the two cultures. He felt that he was different from others and could become a victim of bullies, and even the object of ridicule due to cultural differences. To avoid this, he watched popular classmates and created an image that they would like. At school, he responded to the more familiar name Sam.
